I read in here somewhere and I totally agree! I actually wrote this on my blog when I finished reading CP:
-I am pretty sure Tessa is Mr. Starkweather’s granddaughter!
-Why? Well, remember the fairy at the party telling Tessa about that thing that I forgot the name, when the fairies take human’s healthy baby and exchange them with their sick ones? But she also told Tessa that’s not what she is and fairies can’t lie but the thing is, fairies are also known for manipulating people and why in the world would she come up to Tessa and tell her about that? So I think she said Tessa wasn’t such thing because well, Tessa wasn’t taken by fairies and nor is she a mundane.
-I think she was taken by Mortmain and replaced by some sick girl.
-Everything Mortmain does is for a reason and of course he would do this to the Starkweathers since THEY are responsible for his parent’s death. So it would only make sense for him to take away Mr. Starkweather’s granddaughter and replace her with some sick mundane girl. Which explains WHY his granddaughter turned into Forsaken when she was first marked. She had no shadowhunter blood so she couldn’t bear the marks!
-That also explains why Mr. Starkweather acts so weird every time he sees Tessa! She probably reminds him of someone in his family, like her mom and dad or something!
-That also explains why Nate said that Tessa’s mom was a shadowhunter.
-That doesn’t explain why Tessa is what she is, I know, but maybe Mortmain used dark magic on her? Or maybe if you think about it, Nate didn’t say anything about Tessa’s father being a shadowhunter as well. So maybe she does have demon blood afterall, since she is imortal and stuff!
Me: Well played. I like your theories.
